Pope John Paul II Blood to Become Relic in Polish Church

Pope John Paul II blood will become a relic for the Polish church. The vial of blood was drawn from the Pontiff shortly before he died for medical tests, and once it has gone through beatification it will be installed.

Pope Benedict XVI announced plans to beatify Pope John Paul II on May 1, and the beatification is the last step the late pope must go through on the path to possible sainthood. Do you think that the late pope will become a saint in the Polish church? There are some people who don’t feel that he should be installed as a saint even though millions called for it upon his death.

The vial of blood will be encased in crystal and built into the altar of a church in Krakow. The church will open in May. He served as the Krakow archbishop during part of his life.
