White House Aide's Wife Found Dead

The wife of White House aide, Daniel Turton, has died in a car crash. The Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs, Turton, has yet to release a statement. Police officials are also currently investigating her death. Ashley Turton was found dead inside of a burning car at her home on Capitol Hill on Monday morning. She was the mother of three children and a beloved friend.

The aide’s wife’s former friend and employer Brian Wolff was devastated when he heard the news. “This is so horrific,” said the senior vice president of Edison Electric Institute, “I can’t believe it.” Within Washington, news quickly spread of the White House aide’s wife’s death; this coming off the heels of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords assassination attempt. Spokesman for the D.C. Fire Department, Pete Piringer, told the press that his colleagues responded to a garage fire around the time of 5 a.m.

According to Piringer, it looked as though the fire began after the vehicle crashed into something. He believes that once the person (now confirmed to be Turton) crashed into the object and was unable to get out. Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn) remarked that Turton was “a member of our family and we mourn her. My heart goes out to her family, especially her husband, Dan, and their three young children. This is truly a terrible week for our congressional family.”US News Paper
