Samsung Offers Smart Refrigerator That Tweets

Appliance owners that came before us marveled at the invention of a box that could be plugged into an outlet to keep food cold without the need for the blocks of ice that the iceman delivered. Those early refrigerators grew smarter and even learned to make their own ice. But just how smart does a refrigerator need to be? At the Consumer Electronics show in Vegas, Samsung showed off a refrigerator that just might be too much of a show-off.

The Samsung RF4289 Internet connected refrigerator does a lot more than just chill food. It can play music, check the weather, search for recipes and if that's not smart enough, it can even tweet. What might someone be tempted to tweet while standing in front of the fridge? Does all of Twitterverse need to be alerted when you've run out of eggs or the milk has gone sour?

You've got to admit that the touchscreen display near the icemaker looks really cool, but at a suggested retail price of about $3500, would this smartypants fridge tempt you?US News Paper
