The fans were obviously ecstatic over this development, although it doesn't necessarily indicate Shawn Michaels (pictured via Wikipedia) will return to the ring in 2011. Michaels' last match happened at Wrestlemania 26 when he was defeated in a "Career versus The Streak" match by The Undertaker. Since then, Michaels has promised he will honor his word to the fans, Undertaker and WWE that he won't return to the wrestling ring for any more matches.
It's unknown what will happen with Michaels from here on, but it is known he will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame the night before Wrestlemania 27 in Atlanta, Georgia. With that said, Michaels didn't speak during last night's surprise appearance, but he was interrupted in the ring by current superstar, Alberto Del Rio. The segment ended with Michaels delivering a swift kick to Del Rio's face, leaving him down on the mat.
