A small earthquake struck the Bay Area on Sunday morning, prompting hundreds of reports of shaking but apparently causing no damage or injuries.
The 3.1 magnitude quake struck at 9:28 a.m. near Los Altos, about 40 miles southeast of San Francisco, said Paul Caruso, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey.
The USGS said at least 500 people from as far north as Marin County to as far south as San Jose reported feeling the quake. US News Paper
