Parents need to know that Imbee, a Facebook-like social networking site for kids age 8-14, is a safer choice -- as long as the parent or teacher who approves the child's membership uses the many parental control options and monitors the child's activity on the site frequently. In 2008, the Federal Trade Commission fined imbee for collecting personal information about more than 10,000 kids without adequately notifying parents.
