President Obama’s moment of silence occurred on Monday afternoon at 11 a.m. The Tucson shootings had occurred on Saturday. Barack and the first lady, Michelle, exited the White House in Washigton D.C. and stood in the South Lawn. They were both quiet and bowed their heads and closed their eyes for around a minute before walking back into their home without saying a word. The moment of silence had been called by the president to reflect upon the horrific events of Jan. 8th. Obama had also asked for the prayers of all.
Hopefully, several people joined in with President Obama and the first lady during their request for a moment of silence because this event was something which truly needed reflection. Sadly, the shooter ended the lives of six innocent people. Perhaps, this will bring the country together and allow us to value lives and not politics.US News paper
