Joe Torre Returns to Baseball After Short Retirement

Joe Torre returned to baseball after announcing his retirement. He is 70 years old, and just starting his career in baseball, or so it seems. Torre showed up at the Major League Baseball owners’ meeting where he discussed an executive role with commissioner Bud Selig on Thursday.

Torre is baseball, and he is not about to go away quietly. After his tumultuous exit from the Yankees to his lack luster performance with the L.A. Dodgers, Torre is ready to try his hand at upper management. According to Fox Sports, "MLB is interested in hiring Torre, 70, for a prominent position within the baseball operations department. Torre said he has had multiple conversations with Selig about the possibility, but that an offer hasn’t materialized yet."

Torre recently has announced his retirement from the Los Angeles Dodgers. He spent 12 years managing the New York Yankees and took them to four World Series wins. No one is more qualified than Joe Torre for an executive position. Torre certainly doesn't need the job for financial reasons, but his life has been baseball, and the MLB needs him.US News Paper
