Sagan scored nine of his career-high 11 in the fourth quarter alone, helping break a 42-all tie the teams were stuck at after the third quarter and leading the Vinton-Shellsburg boys’ basketball team to a 66-50 WaMaC Conference West Division win against Clear Creek-Amana.

Sagan, who entered Tuesday averaging 5.7 points per game, said his confidence is starting to grow.

“I was a little nervous at first,” Sagan said, “but now I’m starting to work with (the team) a lot better. Tonight was probably a big step.”US News Paper
