In his first Saturday Night Live appearance in 15 years, Carrey’s performance was over the top, especially in the Black Swan spoof. However, the movie was also over the top. The movie almost seemed to make fun of itself, and Carrey was obviously making fun of his ludicrous position of playing the infamous black swan.
There he was on the SNL stage in a stiff black tutu (seriously funny by itself), and he had a pair of chicken wing tattoos on his back. He said he was late because he had to go “numbers 3 and 4.” That was pretty funny stuff there. Then he started it off Britney style saying, “Get ready to rock, bitches.” He flounced around the studio while working to seduce the producer. He even ate some bread crumbs which, of course, every swan would enjoy.
It is obvious that Jim Carrey is no dancer, but he was able to show just how awkward and strange the Black Swan movie really was. In fact, there are those who saw it who aren’t even sure if it was good or not. Some people even think the movie may have been attempting some black humor.
